How much does coffee cost per month and year?

A single coffee is easy to price. The recurring total depends on how often you buy it, so calculate the yearly rhythm first and then convert it to an average month.

Reviewed June 10, 2026 · Plain arithmetic, with assumptions shown below.

The formula

For a weekly routine: price × purchases per week × 52 = yearly cost.

Divide the yearly result by 12 for an average monthly cost. For a daily routine, multiply the price by 365 instead.

Worked examples

A $4 coffee bought five times per week costs $1,040 per year, or about $86.67 per month.

The same $4 coffee bought every day costs $1,460 per year, or about $121.67 per month.

What changes the result?

  • Weekends, holidays, travel, and working from home.
  • Different drink sizes or add-ons.
  • Loyalty discounts and occasional free drinks.
  • Related purchases such as breakfast or delivery fees.
