Habit cost calculator: monthly and yearly total

Estimates only. Not financial advice. Your inputs stay in this browser.

Calculate how much repeated spending such as coffee, lunch, transit, and small errands costs per month and year. Add an amount and frequency to reveal the long-term total.

One list for the stuff you do on repeat. Edit the seeds or add rows—totals update as you type.

Changing display currency approximately converts row prices using static, manually maintained rates in your browser—no live FX feed.

About €343.67 a month, €4,124.00 a year. Coffee is pulling the most weight right now.

How it works

Each row has a label, an amount, and how often it happens. We normalize everything to a monthly figure, add it up, and multiply by twelve for a yearly view. The short list at the bottom is the largest lines by monthly weight—just weight, not a verdict.

The seed amounts are a starting sketch; overwrite them to match your city and your habits. Rows without a label are ignored.

Example: what a daily coffee costs per year

A $4 coffee bought five times per week costs about $86.67 per month and $1,040 per year. See more examples in how to calculate coffee cost per month and year.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the yearly cost of a habit?

Multiply the price by how often it happens in a year. The calculator converts daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly frequencies into comparable totals.

What is the difference between a habit and a subscription?

A habit is spending that repeats by behavior, such as buying lunch. A subscription is a billed plan or service. Keeping them separate avoids counting the same expense twice.

Why is a weekly cost converted using 52 divided by 12?

A year has about 52 weeks, so dividing 52 by 12 gives an average of 4.33 weeks per month. This is more accurate than assuming every month has four weeks.

How frequencies convert

  • Daily → multiply by average days per month (365 ÷ 12).
  • Weekly → multiply by 52 ÷ 12 for a typical month.
  • Monthly → as entered; yearly → divide by 12.
